Things to do in Tangier: El Morocco

El Morocco was a Manhattan nightclub frequented by the rich and famous from the 1930s to the 1950s.

The likes of Jane Mansfield,...
Jane Mansfiled....

...Rock Hudson and Errol Flynn came to this trendy nightclub to see and be seen.

Vincent Copée and Oscar Badji recently opened a restaurant greatly reminiscent of the trendy nightclub in the Kasbah of Tangier.(http://elmoroccoclub.ma). Like the ones in New-York, the chairs are covered in zebra-stripe fabric and the atmosphere is definitely North American.

We are nonetheless in the old part of Tangier as this portrait of this old man in the traditional wool burnous reminds us.

The food is refined and the wine list includes Moroccan and european wines.

One can also have a light lunch under the rubber tree outside.

So altogether a perfect mix of the USA, Morocco and France. Very international like the Tangier of yore.
En fin de compte un mélange parfait
d'Amérique, de Maroc et de France. Très international comme le Tanger d'antan.
